Portugal tourist tax calculator
Work out exactly how much municipal tourist tax (taxa turística / taxa municipal turística) you must collect from guests: choose the municipality, enter guests and nights, and see the total, the exemptions that apply and any host commission the council pays back.
Includes 2026 rates for Lisbon (€4 per person per night, capped at 7 nights), Porto (€3 since March 2025), Cascais (€2, March to October only), Faro, Albufeira, Lagos, Portimão, Vila Real de Santo António, Funchal, Santa Cruz, Machico, Câmara de Lobos, Porto Santo and the other Madeira municipalities, plus Azores and Alentejo councils.
Children under the exemption age, guests staying beyond the night cap and, in some municipalities, residents are excluded. Where the council pays a collection commission — such as the 2.5% in Santa Cruz — the calculator shows the net amount due.
